association of over 700 members, covering the northwest area of Harris County. She previously
served as the dean of corporate and continuing education at Lone Star College-North Harris. She
joined Lone Star College – Montgomery in 1994 developing customized programs for business
and industry. Prior to joining the college district, she owned her own franchise business,
Gymboree, and worked in training and development for the American General companies.
Barbara holds a BA in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin and an MS in
Management specializing in human resource development from Houston Baptist University. In
2009, she earned her Chamber management certification from the US Chamber of Commerce’s
Institute for Organizational Management and her Professional Community and Economic
Developer certification. In 2016, she became certified in the Everything DiSC© programs and in
Patrick Lencioni’s Leadership programs, enabling her to administer assessments, coaching and
training in these valuable formats.
Barbara has served as president of the Gulf Coast Chamber Executives organization, the president
of the Women’s Business Forum and in January 2017, she assumed a position on the Texas
Chamber of Commerce Executives Board. In 2015, Barbara was named as a Woman of Excellence
by the Women’s Business Forum and honored at the Federation of Professional Women’s Banquet.
In early 2016, she was honored as the 2016 Distinguished Volunteer by Leadership North Houston.
Barbara is married and has two grown children, one of whom has graced her with a precious
grandson who is about 18 months old.
